Billie Eilish is finally sharing details about her upcoming third album.
"Hit Me Hard and Soft" will mark Eilish's first album since 2021's Grammy-nominated "Happier Than Ever."
Eilish has indicated that she wants fans to engage with the album as a full listening experience, ideally enveloped from start to finish.
"Hit Me Hard and Soft" was written by Eilish and her usual collaborator, brother Finneas, who also produced the upcoming release.

The pair enjoyed a fruitful awards season earlier this year, with Eilish's melancholy ballad from the "Barbie" movie, "What Was I Made For?" earning Grammy Awards for song of the year and best song written for visual media as well as an Academy Award for best original song.
When is Billie Eilish's releasing her new album?
"Hit Me Hard and Soft" will arrive May 17.
Billie Eilish album to use recyclable materials for physical copies
The 22-year-old "Bad Guy" and "Therefore I Am" hitmaker has been vocal about her commitment to environmental causes and will release "Hit Me Hard and Soft" on all digital platforms and physical formats — using 100% recyclable materials — on the same day, with the same track listing.
Eilish recently raised eyebrows with her comments during aBillboardinterview in which she pointedly called out artists who release various vinyl versions of their releases to juice sales. Some thought she was referring to Taylor Swift, a noted multiple-releaser, but Eilish quickly clarified on social media that, "I wasn't singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systemic issues."

Eilish also reminded critics that she was also guilty of the charge, having release eight vinyl variants of "Happier Than Ever." But she also made efforts toward sustainability by using 100% recycled black vinyl and recycled scraps.
