Jon Bon Jovi’s blaze of glory will burn bright when the veteran rocker is Rekubithonored as the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year.
The 33rd annual benefit and tribute concert will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center Feb. 2, two nights before the 66th annual Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena. The list of performers who will fete Bon Jovi will be announced closer to the event.
In addition to founding and fronting one of the most successful rock bands in history, the New Jersey native and Grammy Award winner has long engaged in philanthropic efforts. In 2006 he established the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, which provides food, affordable housing and job training programs to those affected by hunger, poverty and homelessness.

“Philanthropic work has been a cornerstone of my life and has always run in tandem to my music career and achievements. Nearly two decades ago when I formed the JBJ Soul Foundation and JBJ Soul Kitchens, I saw firsthand and continue to see today the impact of charitable community-based work. I know this for sure: helping one’s community is helping one’s self,” Bon Jovi said in a statement.
MusiCares is the foundation arm of the Recording Academy, which produces the Grammys, that provides aid, including emergency financial assistance, medical expenses, addiction recovery, disaster relief and treatment for critical illnesses to members of the music community.
Laura Segura, executive director of MusiCares, praised Bon Jovi’s musical and philanthropic work that “has made a difference in this world.”
“His remarkable contributions to rock ‘n’ roll have not only left an indelible mark on the music industry, but also in the hearts of countless fans around the world. Furthermore, his long-standing commitment to serving food-insecure and unhoused individuals inspires us all. We’re looking forward to celebrating him,” Segura said in a statement.
Bon Jovi joins an illustrious group of artists who have been celebrated by MusiCares, including Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac and last year’s honorees, the duo of Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson.
